In recent months, spammers have become more disgusting. In additional to ramping up their spam so that you get ten copies of each one (why would anyone think that annoying someone is an effective means of increasing sales?), they also send these out from email addresses which are not theirs. The result is that innocent third parties get blamed for it. It is bad enough that we get dozens of "undeliverable" messages for spam sent out in our name which we did not send. Then we get the angry emails from the people demanding to be taken off our list and messages from ISPs stating that complaints have been lodged against us.

Here is an article on the problem of bounce-back spam - messages coming in to reply that an e-mail sent under your ID (which you did not send) could not be delivered Bounce Back Spam.

We do not troll the Net for addresses. We only e-mail in response to an e-mail we received. We even cancelled our opt-in newsletter and joke list because of fools who subscribed, then forgot they did and reported us for spam instead of just replying with "remove". Incidentally, our newsletters did not contain ads.

If you have received any other email coming from ygoodman.com or ccs-digital.com, it did NOT come from us. You can usually tell because the email ID is something silly like k7888@ygoodman.

There are two ways to handle spam email. 1) Filter it out. 2) Get even.

Filtering spam requires a little bit of work but it can be done. Here are two articles which describe how:

Getting even requires extra care. As stated, a lot of spam email has a sender email ID which is not the real sender. Hitting reply will only send your complaint to an innocent third party. The best way to deal with spam is to find the culprit. If the spam is trying to sell you a "product" like a mortgage, medication or a "growth" pill, you might want to visit that site and place a few orders. Of course you should use a fake ID and a fake address. And if you use a fake credit card, it costs them money to process the transaction even though it fails. Let them see what it feels like to wade through lots of garbage looking for something useful. Let's make them pay for wasting our time.
