What happens if I make a payment and enter the wrong bank account number?
You're still safe. To make a payment, you have to enter the recipient's name, email and bank account number. For an ING account, they all have to match or the transaction fails. The recipient gets an email to log into the INGdirect site (they do NOT need an INGdirect account). They will then have to enter the name and bank account (which is not shown in the email) in order to claim the funds. If the funds aren't claimed, they revert back to you. So it's not possible to send funds to the wrong account by accident.
